Maryam Grace as Shez in Strawberry Starburst at The Blue Elephant Theatre in 2016.

Strawberry Starburst

Strawberry Starburst

I close my eyes and think back to the days when I used to stuff my face with mum’s spaghetti bolognese and I loved it, tomato juice dripping all down my chin.

OK. Challenge accepted.

Shez is passionate about Strawberry Starburst sweets, her mum’s cooking and her boyfriend’s prickly face. But when her life starts to slip out of control, she finds herself choosing between the food she loves and the people she cares about. She could never predict this would become a matter of life and death.

Strawberry Starburst is a poignant drama about one girl’s battle with her demons… and the lengths she’ll go to fight them.

With support from Arts Council England, Soho Theatre, and Southwark Playhouse, Strawberry Starburst has been performed at several London theatres.

Strawberry Starburst was winner of the Highly Commended Award at VAULT Festival 2018.

Additional praise:

‘Davidovich cleverly infuses the conversational monologue with moving poetry, heightening the emotional connection between the audience and Shez and drawing us in to share in her torment.’

-West End Wilma

‘The strength of Strawberry Starburst is that there is nothing which logically causes her illness.’

-The Stage

‘Davidovich’s naturalistic dialogue forms a real connection between the audience and the character of Shez.’
